  • March 2, 2000 -- Business Meeting -- The Committee favorably passed S.345, a bill to amend the Animal Welfare Act to remove the limitation that permits interstate movement of live birds, for the purpose of fighting, to States in which animal fighting is lawful. The Committee favorably passed an original bill to amend the Federal Crop Insurance Act to improve crop insurance coverage, to provide agricultural producers with choices to manage risk and for other purposes. The Committee also favorably approved the Bexar-Medina-Atascosa (BMA) Water Conservation Plan under the authority of Public Law 83-566 (the Small Watershed Act).
