Chairwoman Stabenow Welcomes CFTC Whistleblower Office Funding Fix

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Chairwoman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, issued the following statement on the passage of S.409. The bill includes an amendment authored by Stabenow, Committee Ranking Member John Boozman (R-Ark.), and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) providing a solution to ensure the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) can continue important transparency and outreach functions of its work.

“I’m pleased to work with Senators Boozman and Grassley on this important fix at CFTC,” said Chairwoman Stabenow. “By separating the money used for salaries and expenses from the funds used for whistleblower awards, Congress ensures that the CFTC Whistleblower Office and the Office of Customer Education and Outreach can continue their important roles while we work toward reauthorization of the Commodity Exchange Act.”
