WASHINGTON– U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), incoming Chair of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, & Forestry, today issued the following statement after the Commission unanimously elected Rostin Behnam to serve as acting Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC):
"The CFTC will be in excellent hands under Acting Chairman Behnam’s leadership.
“During his time as a Commissioner, I have been impressed by his proactive work to protect our economy from the urgent impacts of the climate crisis. He has been a vigilant advocate for Wall Street reform to hold bad actors accountable. Additionally, he has elevated the importance of improving diversity and inclusion at the CFTC and across the financial industry.
“I look forward to working with him to continue protecting the families, farmers, and businesses that rely on our agricultural and financial markets."
