WASHINGTON – Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) released the following statement on the Biden Administration’s announcement to improve the measurement, monitoring, reporting, and verification of greenhouse gas emissions and carbon sequestration through climate-smart agriculture and forestry practices.
“Climate-smart agriculture and forestry holds enormous potential as a tool to confront the climate crisis and remove carbon from the atmosphere. This announcement will improve the scientific data to help us effectively measure emissions and carbon reductions while spurring private investment.
“In the last Congress, I was proud to lead a historic investment in climate-smart agriculture, and today we are taking another step toward fully tapping into its potential. I applaud the Administration for taking this important step, and I look forward to building on this progress in the Farm Bill.”
