WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts, R-Kan., Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, today announced the Committee will hold a business meeting to mark up and vote on bipartisan legislation reauthorizing the U.S. Grain Standards Act, which has provisions that expire in September.
The U.S. Grain Standards Act authorizes USDA’s Federal Grain Inspection Service to establish marketing standards for a variety of grains and oilseeds. The Act was last reauthorized in 2005. The Agriculture Committee held a stakeholder hearing on reauthorization earlier this month. Click here to read the bill.
The Committee will also hold a hearing to consider the nomination of Jeffrey Michael Prieto to be the U.S. Department of Agriculture general counsel.
