Chairman Roberts Applauds Wheeler Confirmation

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Pat Roberts, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry today applauded Senate confirmation of Andrew Wheeler to be the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

“I look forward to continue working with Administrator Wheeler,” Roberts said. “He has taken the time to listen to the concerns of farmers and ranchers regarding the Obama Administration’s damaging ‘Waters of the U.S.’ (WOTUS) rule. EPA, under Mr. Wheeler’s direction, has already demonstrated a high regard for the concerns of rural America, and I look forward to working with him on issues important to agriculture.”

Wheeler was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on a 52-47 vote.

In February 2017, with Chairman Roberts in attendance, President Trump signed an executive order providing relief from the WOTUS rule. In December 2018, Roberts joined Wheeler to unveil the reworked WOTUS rule, which provides certainty and clarity to farmers and ranchers about when Clean Water Act requirements are applicable – and more important, when they are not.
