Ranking Member Boozman Announces New Committee Economist

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Ranking Member John Boozman (R-AR) announced Brad Weddelman as the chief economist for committee Republicans.

“Brad’s background in economics will play a crucial role as the committee develops and advances policies to strengthen rural America and provide our farmers, ranchers and agriculture community with the tools they need to be successful and continue to produce a safe, affordable and abundant supply of food. I’m pleased to welcome him aboard,” Boozman said.

Weddelman joins the agriculture committee after serving as chief economist at an agricultural advocacy firm for more than seven years. Before moving to the nation’s capital, he worked as a teaching and research assistant for the Agricultural and Food Policy Center at Texas A&M University.

Weddelman earned his Master of Science in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Toledo.
