WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR), ranking member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, announced that Katherine Thomas will be joining as senior professional staff on the Republican side of the committee.
Thomas, who previously served as a legislative assistant on the committee during the tenure of former Chairman Pat Roberts (R-KS), returns to manage the nutrition portfolio for Ranking Member Boozman.
“We are excited to welcome Katherine back to the committee. The knowledge and skills she developed working on the farm bill during her previous tenure will be extremely valuable for our team as we start that process anew. I look forward to working with her to strengthen our nutrition programs to ensure they are effective, accountable and reach those most in need,” Boozman said.
Prior to joining the committee, Thomas served as a legislative assistant in the office of U.S. Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) where she handled agriculture and trade for the senator. She also previously covered agriculture policy for then-Senator Roberts in his personal office.
Thomas worked in the Kansas delegation in the U.S. House of Representatives as well. She served as deputy legislative director for Representative Tracey Mann (R-KS) and began her career as a staff assistant for then-Representative Mike Pompeo (R-KS).
A native of Wichita, Kansas, Thomas earned a bachelors’ degree in biology from the College of William & Mary.
