WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts, R-Kan., Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, today admonished the House Democrats’ continuing resolution (CR), which denies funding for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) implementation of Farm Bill and COVID-19 relief programs.
“We have a pandemic of politics in this country. Today, that was made worse with the rollout of House Democrats’ CR,” said Roberts. “This ill-advised plan would delay critical farm programs and limit risk management tools that are a lifeline for producers right now.”
“We cannot allow this disregard of rural America. Our farmers, ranchers, and growers deserve better than this, especially during these unprecedented times.”
Roberts last week spoke on the Senate floor about the importance of pandemic relief programs to rural America. Click here to watch and read his remarks.
