WASHINGTON – Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Chairwoman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, and John Boozman (R-Ark.), Ranking Member, today announced the witnesses who will be testifying at the Committee’s upcoming hearing field hearing in Arkansas on the 2023 Farm Bill.
The hearing—entitled “2023 Farm Bill: Perspectives from the Natural State”—will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 9 am (CT) at Riceland Hall of the Fowler Center at Arkansas State University (ASU) in Jonesboro.
It will feature two panels consisting of agricultural producers, industry stakeholders and rural community supporters from Arkansas. They will be preceded by a welcome panel consisting of Dr. Mickey Latour, Dean of the College of Agriculture at ASU and Rich Hillman, President of Arkansas Farm Bureau.
“Our field hearings are a great opportunity to hear firsthand from the people who use Farm Bill programs most about ways we can strengthen this important legislation, grow the rural economy, and meet the challenges facing our country,” said Stabenow. “I’m excited to join my friend Senator Boozman in Jonesboro and hear from his fellow Arkansans later this week.”
“The best solutions come from the ground up. We have invited some of Arkansas’s top experts in their subject matter areas to testify, and I believe what they share with us at this hearing will greatly benefit the Committee as we move forward with the farm bill process,” said Boozman.
